Your first Italian driving licence

New to driving — or just new to driving in Italy? The path is the same for everyone, and we make it simple. You study and drive; the paperwork is our job.

  1. Enrol at our office. We open your file with the Motorizzazione — you sign, we handle the rest.
  2. Medical check with the doctor here in our office. No hunting for an authorised physician across town.
  3. Theory course plus the official quiz bank to practise at home.
  4. Theory exam: 30 questions, 20 minutes, maximum 3 mistakes.
  5. Foglio rosa (learner's permit): valid 12 months, with up to 3 attempts at the driving test.
  6. Driving lessons with an instructor, on the same streets as the exam.
  7. Driving test — licence in hand.

Converting a non-EU licence

This is what we've been doing for years with people arriving in Milan from all over the world. Whether your licence can be converted depends on the agreement between Italy and your country — bring it in, and we'll tell you on the spot.

  1. Bring your licence and an ID to our office: we look at it together.
  2. We check the agreement between Italy and your country and tell you exactly what applies to you.
  3. If it converts: we prepare the whole file, medical check included, here in the office.
  4. If you need to retake the exam: we prepare you — the official quizzes also exist in French and German.
  5. You collect your Italian licence.

What to bring: your foreign licence and an ID. We'll list the rest after the check, for your exact case.

EU licence: often nothing to do

EU and EEA licences are recognised as equivalent in Italy: as long as yours is valid, you drive. The moment to act is when it expires, gets lost, or needs replacing.

  1. Show us your licence and tell us how long you've been in Italy.
  2. We tell you if and when conversion is needed — for many people the answer is "nothing, for now".
  3. When the time comes: we handle conversion or recognition, medical check included.

Recovering penalty points

Every Italian licence starts with 20 points. If you've lost some, a course at a driving school gives part of them back without waiting years. If you're at zero, there's the "revisione": exams again — and you won't face them alone.

  1. We check your actual points balance together, so you know where you really stand.
  2. Recovery course at our office: +6 points for licences up to BE, +9 for higher categories and CQC.
  3. At zero? We walk you through the revisione: theory and practice, prepared with us.

Renewal: one visit, here

Renewal here is a single stop: you come in, see the doctor in our office, and leave with the receipt that lets you drive in Italy right away. The new licence arrives at your home.

  1. Book the medical check — one phone call.
  2. Medical visit at our office, photos and paperwork done in the same stop.
  3. Drive right away in Italy with the doctor's receipt while you wait.
  4. Your new licence arrives by registered mail.

Car & motorbike ownership transfers

Bought or sold a vehicle privately? The ownership transfer is done here, no queues: we check the documents and close the file.

  1. Come to the office — ideally seller and buyer together.
  2. We check the documents of the vehicle and of both parties.
  3. You sign here, we do the rest: the file is submitted right away.

You have a licence, but Milan traffic? No thanks. It happens to more people than you'd think. Refresher lessons exist exactly for this: an instructor beside you, your pace, the streets that scare you.

Nearly every licence procedure needs a medical check: renewal, first enrolment, conversion, duplicate. In most driving schools that means a second appointment, somewhere else, on another day.
