The service for people who arrived in Milan from abroad
Foreign licence conversion
For years our office has been where students and workers from abroad sort out their licence. Bring yours: we'll tell you on the spot whether it converts, what's needed, and where to begin.
How it actually works
A non-EU licence can be converted only if your country has a reciprocity agreement with Italy — and every agreement has its own rules and deadlines. That's why you won't find a table of countries here: you'll find us, checking your actual document, on the spot, for free.
The framework of agreements is set by the Ministry: Ministry of Transport — foreign licence conversion.
- Bring your licence and an ID to our office: we look at it together.
- We check the agreement between Italy and your country and tell you exactly what applies to you.
- If it converts: we prepare the whole file, medical check included, here in the office.
- If you need to retake the exam: we prepare you — the official quizzes also exist in French and German.
- You collect your Italian licence.
EU or EEA licence?
Then the road is downhill: European licences are recognised as equivalent in Italy. While yours is valid, you drive. When it expires, approaches expiry, or gets lost, that's where we come in — conversion or recognition, medical check in-house.
EU/EEA equivalence: Ministry of Transport — foreign licence conversion.
International driving permit
The journey in reverse: if you need to drive outside Europe with your Italian licence, we prepare your international permit. A quick file, done at our office.
We speak your struggle
Italian bureaucracy in a language that isn't yours is a wall. We climb it with someone every week — and the official theory quizzes also exist in French and German.
«as a foreigner customer service in Italy is not so friendly, they were beyond approachable and calm and patient with my non-native italian»«Very good for international students, they work a lot with French kids and get the job done. You can take the theory test in French (or German), and they have all the resources to help you»Quiz languages: official ministerial quizzes.
Step one: show us the licence
Five minutes at the office — or a photo on WhatsApp — and you'll know exactly what path exists for you.
